Nagrywanie materiału na krążek zbiegło się z tragiczną śmiercią dwóch dotychczasowych członków zespołu: Jamesa Honeymana-Scotta i Pete'a Farndona. Ich miejsce zajęli Billy Bremner (Rockpile) oraz Tony Butler (Big Country), dzięki czemu muzycy mogli nagrać album poruszający wiele poważnych tematów, zróżnicowany stylistycznie i dynamicznie.
