Primus, dowodzona przez basistę Lesa Claypoola grupa, której twórczość balansuje na granicy rocka, funku i metalu, w 2017 roku wydał pierwszy od sześciu lat album, zatytułowany The Desaturating Seven, nakładem wytwórni ATO Records.

Płyta powstała w klasycznym składzie – Les Claypool (wokal, bas), Larry LaLonde (gitara) oraz Tim Alexander (perkusja).

Inspiracją dla nowego krążka jest książka dla dzieci z lat 70-tych (The Rainbow Goblins autorstwa Ula De Rico), którą Claypool często czytał swoim dzieciom, kiedy dorastały. Lektura opowiada historię siedmiu chochlików, a każdy z nich odzwierciedla jeden z kolorów tęczy.
